Hair textures were rendered in Maya Xgen. 4096 X 2048 Rectangle maps to 0 to 1 UV space were used.
Hand painted (Color overlays) the diffuse map to get some cheap color variation instead of its alternative vertex painted color variation workflow. (Maybe next time)
